NAME OF THE TOUR: “THE USA IN WWI (1916-1918)”

ITINERARY (this tour starts and ends in PARIS):

The USA really got involved in WWI in 1916. They had to learn a lot when they arrived in France. But they fought hard throughout 1917 and 1918. The US Army, with its fresh and numerous troops, sealed the victory. Lest We Forget! France will always be grateful to the USA for its support during WWI.

D1 – DEPART TOWARDS THE NORTH OF FRANCE

Meet & greet by your tour director in Paris at 9am. Board your mini-van/coach and travel to Meaux just outside of Paris where we will visit the new Musée de la Grande Guerre, entirely dedicated to WWI. In the afternoon, we visit Belleau Wood where the US Marines became famous, as well as the Chateau-Thierry American Cemetery. Dinner included tonight. Overnight around Reims. (D)

D2 – THE ARGONNE FOREST

We head east towards the tragically known Argonne Forest. Pay respect to the fallen soldiers of WWI at the Montfaucon Monument and at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery while learning about the different battles in this area. We will also walk the Sergent York trail (weather permitting). Overnight in the Verdun region. (B)

D3 – VERDUN, BAYONNET TRENCH

Today's visits include the town of Verdun, the Douaumont Ossuary and the Bayonnet Trench. We will learn more of the sacrifice the French Army made during WWI. Overnight in the Verdun region.(B)

D4 – SAINT MIHIEL OFFENSIVE

The Saint Mihiel Offensive around Madine Lake, led by the US Army, was a decisive battle, one that definitely gave the victory to the Allied. Farewell dinner tonight. Overnight in the Verdun region.(B)

D5 – RETURN TO PARIS

We will return to Paris after 4 very moving days that you will never ever forget. Depart at around 8:00 am. First drop off at CDG Airport at around 11am (you may book a return flight leaving Paris not earlier than 3pm). Second drop-off at Paris Montparnasse train station at around 12 (noon).

MEETING & ENDING:

Meeting point on 1st day: MONTPARNASSE train station, at 9:00am

(map details and pictures will be sent upon confirmation). Our guide will hold a sign "USA WWI”

Drop-off on last day: CDG at 11am, MONTPARNASSE at around noon (12pm)

You may send us your preferred travel dates. We will book the hotel accordingly. If rooms are not available at our suggested hotels, we will provide you with alternative lodging options. We may also provide you with hotels of higher category. We never use 2-star hotels or below.

The price includes:

• English speaking tour guide (transportation and guiding could be combined if we have 8 or less passengers)

• Hotel accommodation in a 4-star hotel around Reims, in a 3-star hotel around Verdun. Breakfast and city taxes included.
• Admission to Musée de la Grande Guerre and Douaumont Ossuaire.
• Two 3-course dinners including water, wine and coffee

The price of the tour does not include:

• Air fare
• Meals and drinks other than at 2 dinners and all breakfast.
• Tips to your driver-guides (suggestion: 10€ per person per day)
• Tips to your drivers (suggestion: 3€ per person per transfer, 5€ per person per day during over the road tours)
• Tips to your English speaking guides (suggestion: 10€ per person per day)
• Travel Insurance and personal expenses

Cancellation:

Full refund will be issued for any cancellation received up to 2 months prior to the starting date of the tour, less a $300 administrative fee per person. There will be no refund for any cancellation received within 2 months prior to the starting date of the tour.
