ITINERARY (this tour starts and ends in PARIS):

During this very moving tour, you will experience:

- Memorial of all 5 Australian Divisions involved in WWI

- The Somme Battlefield

- Fromelles, Ypres, Passchendale

D1 – DEPART TOWARDS THE NORTH OF FRANCE

Meet & greet by your tour director in Paris at 9am. Board your 9-seater mini-van and travel to the forest of Compiegne where the Germans surrendered in 1918, before arriving in Peronne. Afternoon visit of the Historial de la Grande Guerre, before seeing the 2^nd Australian Division Memorial, the site of the decisive of Battle of Mont Saint Quentin. Dinner included tonight. Overnight (D).

D2 – THE SOMME BATTELFIELD (long day)

First, visit Villers-Bretonneux’s school yard and the French-Australian Museum. At both the Australian Military Cemetery and the Australian Corps Memorial near Le Hamel, it will be very solemn moments. The 3^rd Australian Division Memorial is on the other side of the Somme River. The visit of the giant Lochnagar Crater, dedicated to all who suffered during WWI will be revealing. Before arriving in Arras for overnight, we won’t miss the 1^st Australian Division Memorial. (B).

D3 – FROMELLES, PLUGSTREET 14-18 EXPERIENCE

Around Fromelles, the sites dedicated to the Australian soldiers are remarkable. The day includes Pheasant Wood Cemetery, The Australian Memorial Park, the Museum of the Battle of Fromelles and VC Corner. In the afternoon, the Plugstreet 14-18 Experience has an entire department dedicated to Australian and NZ Forces. Dinner included tonight. Overnight in Ypres. (B, D)

D4 – YPRES, PASSCHENDALE

The day starts at Passchendale, one of the sites that embodies the horror of the fighting and the very small meaning of it. After visiting the Passchendale museum, we turn to the Polygon Wood Cemetery and the 5^th Australian Division Memorial. In the afternoon, explore the In Flanders Fields Museum. At 8pm, we will attend the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing. Overnight in Ypres. (B)

D5 – RETURN TO PARIS

In the morning, we drive back to Paris via highway A26, with a stop at the 4^th Australian Division Memorial near Saint Quentin. This division took part in the Battle of Saint Quentin Canal in October 1918, instrumental for the final win of the war. Departure from Saint Quentin at 2pm. First drop off at CDG Airport at around 3:30pm (for customers with a hotel reservation at CDG). Second drop-off at Paris Montparnasse train station at around 5:00pm. (B).

MEETING & ENDING:

Meeting point on 1st day: MONTPARNASSE train station, at 9:00am (map details and pictures will be sent upon confirmation). Our guide will hold a sign "AUSTRALIA WWI”.

Drop-off on last day: CDG at 3:30pm, MONTPARNASSE at around 5:00pm.

You may send us your preferred travel dates. We will book the hotel accordingly. If rooms are not available at our suggested hotels, we will provide you with alternative lodging options. We may also provide you with hotels of higher category. We never use 2-star hotels or below.

Cancellation:

Full refund will be issued for any cancellation received up to 2 months prior to the starting date of the tour, less a 300 USD administrative fee per person. There will be no refund for any cancellation received within 2 months prior to the starting date of the tour.
